The United Community: Working Together for a Strong Future

March 26, 2020

Dear United Parents/Guardians and Students:

Governor Tom Wolf has extended the closure of our schools as a way of mitigating the spread of COVID-19.  Legislators have unanimously approved Senate Bill 751, and we expect that the Governor will sign it shortly.  The law will make several changes to the PA School Code, one being the Continuity of Education for public schools in Pennsylvania.

United has held two virtual in-service days for teachers (March 25th & 26th) to plan for delivering Enrichment and Review, the way that we can offer Continuity of Education for all students within the District.  Enrichment and Review for students will begin on Monday, March 30, 2020.  Building principals will be mailing letters to each home with further details.

We will continue to serve meals each day at the High School Event Entrance from 11:00am – 12:30pm each Monday through Friday.  Please know that schools remain closed except for essential personnel.

We are all awaiting the time that we resume our normal operations, however, we must all do what the Governor has asked to mitigate the spread.  We will keep you updated on any changes to the current closure, when we receive that information.

We appreciate your efforts through this extraordinary time.  If you have any questions during this time, please feel free to reach out to your building principal or to me.  We will all get through this together.  Remember to Stay Calm, Stay Home, and Stay Safe.

Sincerely,

Dr. Barbara Parkins
