Exciting News from United School District!

We are beyond excited to announce that the United School District has been approved for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year to begin its participation in the Child Nutrition program, Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) through the United States Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Services.

The school district’s status as a CEP school district allows for all students regardless of free/reduced lunch or family income status to receive 1 (one) free approved breakfast and 1 (one) free approved lunch daily.

CEP expands upon the school district’s approval during the Spring of 2024 for the state Breakfast Expansion Grant, which provides for two grab and go breakfast locations within the Jr./Sr. High School.  This provides for 3 (three) locations for students to access a free approved breakfast each morning; the Cafeteria, outside of the Gymnasium, and outside of the Auditorium.

What does CEP mean for our families within the United School District?

CEP approval means that all families of students within the United School District have been released of the financial burden of paying for a daily breakfast and/or lunch as all students are now eligible to receive a free approved breakfast and free approved lunch each day.

The school district’s participation in this outstanding school nutrition opportunity is another example of its commitment to identifying and procuring opportunities to ensure its students’ access to high quality nutritional meals while also assisting in eliminating financial burdens that our parents, families, and students may have experienced previously.

The CEP program limits each student to 1 (one) free “approved” breakfast and lunch daily.  It is important to note that students choosing to purchase a la carte items and/or additional breakfasts and lunches beyond that provided by the CEP program are still financially responsible for payment for any food purchased beyond that provided through the CEP program.

*Please be aware that existing negative student cafeteria balances must still be settled with the school district.  They are not resolved by the school district’s participation in the CEP program.*
