The Youth Water Quality and Engagement Project is for high school and middle school students in Armstrong and surrounding counties. This nine-month project is FREE for students to participate in and will educate them about the importance of clean and healthy water to our community; what may be impacting local water quality; and how they can be part of the solution to mitigating pollution or reducing future negative impacts.

Teams of 7th & 8th graders competed against other schools in the Indiana Co. Junior Envirothon at Blue Spruce Park on September 25th.
Topics were Current Issues, Wildlife, Aquatics, Soil & Erosion, and Forestry. The Lions ( Blue ) placed 3rd in the 8th grade competition.

We are pleased to announce that representatives for the United States Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy will be hosting a Military Service Academy Night for students interested in attending one of our nation’s Service Academies. As students begin to consider and work towards the possibility of attending an academy, this event is intended to assist in their overall preparedness.

We are beyond excited to announce that the United School District has been approved for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year to begin its participation in the Child Nutrition program, Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) through the United States Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Services. The school district’s status as a CEP school district allows for all students regardless of free/reduced lunch or family income status to receive 1 (one) free approved breakfast and 1 (one) free approved lunch daily.
