Members from United's ATHENA club attended the 2024 ATHENA Emerging Women Leaders Luncheon. Returning Senior club members had the opportunity to apply for the Spadafora Family ATHENA Scholarship. The scholarship is open to high school seniors from Indiana Country ATHENA clubs. Congratulations to Ashlynn Brendlinger, the recipient of the 2024 Spadafora Family Athena Scholarship. Marissa Bowers and Sarah Marshall were also recognized as scholarship finalists and each received a $250 scholarship.

The United High School Senior Class is hosting a Red Cross Blood Drive on Wednesday, October 23rd in the High School Main Gym. Blood supplies are critically low, and every pint of blood donated helps benefit our seniors with a scholarship from the American Red Cross. Appointments are required to attend. The United Jr./Sr. High School chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is holding a Food Drive and Diaper Donation in support of a local family in need due to some recent tragic events. Please consider supporting in any way you may be able.

The PTG would like to thank everyone who donated to their annual walk-a-thon. The money raised will be used to pay for field trips, birthday celebrations, Holiday Workshop, and other fun activities throughout the year. Thank you to everyone who donated to help make these activities possible. Students who collected at least $50 received a t-shirt. Those who raised at least $75 earned a t-shirt, a chance to win a new bicycle, and a Kona Ice treat later this month. Mason Dixon collected the most money. He received a $50 Walmart gift card, donated by Pease Taekwondo Academy of Blairsville. Madison Tweardy won the 5th grade t-shirt design competition. Cayson Baroni was selected out of the drawing as the bike winner. Thank you to everyone who donated to help make these activities possible!

The Youth Water Quality and Engagement Project is for high school and middle school students in Armstrong and surrounding counties. This nine-month project is FREE for students to participate in and will educate them about the importance of clean and healthy water to our community; what may be impacting local water quality; and how they can be part of the solution to mitigating pollution or reducing future negative impacts.

Teams of 7th & 8th graders competed against other schools in the Indiana Co. Junior Envirothon at Blue Spruce Park on September 25th.  Topics were Current Issues, Wildlife, Aquatics,  Soil & Erosion, and Forestry.   The Lions ( Blue ) placed 3rd in the 8th grade competition. 

Congratulations to the United Class of 1959 on their recent reunion on August 31st. Once a Lion always a Lion!!!
