Getting to know Dr. Lucas

 

Dr. Lucas began his commission as the Superintendent of the United School District on April 17, 2023.  He brings with him 22 years of experience in public education within the state of Pennsylvania. Dr. Lucas is thrilled about the next chapter of his career as the instructional leader here at United and is extremely excited to work with the amazing staff here to provide our students with a world class education that prepares them for the challenges of tomorrow.

Before joining the United School District, Dr. Lucas served as the Acting Superintendent of the Windber Area School District from March 21, 2022 through April 14, 2023.  He joined the Windber Area School District in November 2014.  During his time at Windber, Dr. Lucas also served in the roles Director of Special Education & School Enhancement, and as Principal for Windber Area Middle and High Schools.  Dr. Lucas began the administrative portion of his career within the Greater Johnstown School District serving in the roles of Middle School Academic Principal & High School Assistant Principal.

Prior to entering school administration, Dr. Lucas served as a High School Guidance Counselor, Transition Coordinator, CBI Facilitator, and Special Education Teacher for the Greater Johnstown and Conemaugh Valley School Districts.

 

Dr. Lucas is married to his loving wife, Diane, a special education teacher in the Central Cambria School District.  They reside in Johnstown, PA with their three sons, Hayden, Layne and Reece.  His interests include movies, music, reading, baseball, football, and wrestling.  He is a devoted Steelers, Rays, and Penn State fan.
